If you’re a outdoorsmen like myself, you more than likely have a lot of “Stuff” and besides that, I collect all kinds of things.
If it’s outdoor, video, camera related, I collect it and then there’s my Coke, knives and 45 record collections and I could go on and on.
Our house is small and I have my Terry Redlin, Mark Anderson and Robert Hinton’s art work there, but that’s about it when it comes to having a place to display or put things at the house.
When I purchased my 90 X 105′ building, I didn’t think I’d ever need that much space, but I did and then purchased a two car garage that was located at the back of my lot and moved a small building in from my old office.
Needless to say, everything is full with my two boats, an aluminum trailer, decoys, blinds, ice fishing sleds, traps, numerous rods & reels, tackle boxes, game cameras, archery gear, totes full of camo for Spring, Fall, Winter, all different types and camo patterns, lawn mowers as well as things we have no room for at the house.
I’m one of those people that likes to be organized so once I put something away, I can find it back, but when you start piling things on top of or in front of other totes and boxes, it doesn’t matter how organized you are.
On one of our filming trips, I came across information on a family run business which built all types of storage buildings, garages, kennels, you name it, they built them and them moved them to where ever you wanted them.
After looking over their catalog and web site, I decided to check around and see if some of their buildings were close by.
One of my Team members just a couple of blocks away had one of their garages, so I talked with TC and looked over his garage and storage building.
After talking with him, I was impressed and one day while I was giving seminars in Cabela’s Mitchell Store, I stopped by Quality Storage Buildings, in Alexandria, South Dakota on my way back home and talked with Matt.
He gave me a tour, going through the numerous styles he had on display, I was impressed with the quality and all the different varieties of buildings they produced.
After talking it over with my wife, I decided on the High Barn design, that had a loft and shelving inside along the north side,
Because we planned on storing our lawn mower and other equipment in it, its roll up door and ramp were just what we needed.
My 10 X 12′ building had vinyl siding, a walk in door, a window on either side of the door with shutters.
We had only one place to put it and that was on the concrete slab where my dog kennel used to be.
Beings my neighbor had a solid 8 foot fence on his side of the alley and we had a tree on one side, along with a gas meter beside the concrete on the south side and a telephone pedestal on the other side, it looked as if it was going to be a real challenge to get it set up there.
When the building arrived, my wife was amazed at how they maneuvered the building around all the obstacles that were around the concrete pad where the building would sit.
It is perfect and now we store, our lawnmower, holiday decorations, that includes two Christmas trees, a picnic table, lawn furniture, yard ornaments, gardening supplies
